The Granite City...

Welcome to the 'Granite City' of Aberdeen - a prosperous, cosmopolitan city with an international population and a booming oil industry. The city boasts spectacular architecture and captivating museums, fascinating history, a wealth of art and culture and a lively social scene.

Aberdeen's famous 'Granite Mile', Union Street, is the gateway to over 800 shops, restaurants and bars. Visitors can chill-out in lovely flower-filled parks - Aberdeen is 13 times winner of Britain in Bloom. Best of all, the city has its own golden sandy beach.

The city centre features the opulent Marischal College and the colonnaded Art Gallery with its fine collection, which have been preserved as museums. Union Street continues west to the cosmopolitan West End, where much of the city's nightlife can be found. To the south, the harbour heaves with boats serving the fishing and oil industries, while north of the centre lies attractive Old Aberdeen, a village neighbourhood presided over by King's College and St Machar Cathedral, and influenced by the large student population. Aberdeen's long beach, with its esplanade development, marks the city's eastern border, only a mile or so from its centre.

Aberdeen offers a range of family attractions that draw people to the city from far afield.  Have fun for all the family at one of Scotland's greatest indoor and outdoor family complexes, Codonas Amusement Park.  Let the children explore their imaginations through the Castle Trail or take a walk in any of the region's beautiful forests.

At night Aberdeen really lights up with a range of Night Life attractions designed to appeal to everyone.  The huge variety of pubs and clubs range from trendy theme bars to live music venues featuring everything from folk and jazz to indie, rock and blues.

Aberdeen offers a wide range of quality food, whether it's restaurants or pub grub; oriental, Indian, Thai, fine dining, a regional delicacy, or fast food, you will find Aberdeen caters for all tastes to an exceptional quality.

There's also a wide range of indoor and outdoor Sports you can participate in, including skiing, angling, mountaineering, hang gliding and diving. It also has a network of quality leisure centres where you can have a work out in the gym or relax in a warm tub.
